Warmly celebrate the third “Chinese People’s Police Day”

In the vast river of time, certain special days shine brightly, serving as enduring milestones etched in our collective memory. On January 10, 2023, we marked the third “Chinese People’s Police Day”—a glorious occasion for all police officers and a moment when society as a whole pays tribute to their dedication and service.

Since 2021, January 10 has been designated as the “Chinese People’s Police Day.” The establishment of this holiday reflects the Party and the people’s profound respect for and deep care toward the ranks of the people’s police, and serves as a solemn recognition of their long-standing, courageous dedication to the interests of both the Party and the people. Endowed with distinct political significance, broad popular appeal, and symbolic importance to the policing profession, it has become a powerful spiritual force, inspiring the vast majority of people’s police to perform their duties with unwavering loyalty and to forge ahead with determination.

Looking back, the people’s police force has left a trail of solid and profound achievements in its mission to safeguard national security and social stability. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has attached great importance to and shown deep care for the people’s police, attending the National Public Security Work Conference and delivering an important speech; personally presenting the flag to the Chinese People’s Police and issuing an address; and warmly meeting with delegates to the National Commendation Conference for Heroes, Role Models, and Meritorious Collectives in the Public Security System. These warm and powerful gestures of care and encouragement have served as beacons, illuminating the path ahead for the people’s police and strengthening their resolve to perform their duties with unwavering loyalty and to strive courageously.

On this special holiday, diverse celebratory events were held across the country, paying the highest respects to the people’s police. In Chishui City, Guizhou Province, police officers and auxiliary police officers organized a ceremony titled “Raising the Police Flag and Reaffirming the Oath of Entry,” standing tall with solemn expressions as they solemnly took their oath before the flag. Their resolute vows echoed through the skies, underscoring their unwavering loyalty to the public security cause and their steadfast commitment to serving the people. At the Household Registration Service Hall of the Luquan Branch of the Shijiazhuang Public Security Bureau in Hebei Province, female officers greeted visitors with warm smiles, enthusiastically assisting those seeking household registration services. With their friendly demeanor and professional competence, they showcased the admirable image of the people’s police. Meanwhile, in the Lengshuihe Community of Jiuzhou Town, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, officers from the county traffic police brigade conducted public‑education campaigns on traffic safety. Through vivid explanations and real‑world case studies, they disseminated vital traffic‑safety knowledge, helping to raise public awareness and promote safer road use. These activities not only extend festive greetings to the people’s police but also serve as a collective acknowledgment and expression of gratitude for their tireless dedication.

Police Day is not merely a badge of honor; it is also a weighty responsibility. As they confront the missions and tasks of this new era and new journey, the people’s police will always bear in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping’s earnest exhortations and remain steadfast in their commitment to be loyal guardians of the Party and the people. Guided by the overarching principles of “loyalty to the Party, service to the people, impartial law enforcement, and strict discipline,” they will continue to strengthen their own development, enhance their capacity to perform their duties, advance the standardization of law enforcement, and elevate both the quality and public trust in their work. On the path of safeguarding national security and social stability, they will carry forward the spirit of fearlessness and selfless dedication, intensify efforts to combat infiltration, subversion, terrorism, and secession, and resolutely defend the security of the state regime, the institutional framework, and ideological security. They will focus on preventing and defusing all kinds of risks and challenges, crack down rigorously on all forms of criminal and unlawful activities, and wholeheartedly and with genuine care follow the Party’s mass line in the new era—resolving disputes at the grassroots level and nipping potential risks and hazards in the bud—thereby continuously bolstering the people’s sense of gain, happiness, and security.

On the occasion of the third “Chinese People’s Police Day,” let us extend our highest respect and sincerest holiday greetings to all police officers. We are deeply grateful for everything you have given in safeguarding national security, social stability, and the well-being of the people. With your passion and sacrifice, you embody loyalty and responsibility; through unwavering dedication and selfless service, you keep the lights shining in countless homes. May you, in the year ahead, continue to forge ahead with resolve, achieve new accomplishments, and provide steadfast support as we work to build a modern socialist country in all respects and advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!
